Martial Arts
The YMCA welcomes professional instructors in various disciplines of martial arts and self-defense.
Learn how to use your strength effectively, maintain cardiovascular fitness, improve flexibility and coordination in our Martial Arts programs.
Embracing the mental and spiritual elements of martial arts will improve the mind’s focus and enable you to develop self-control, build confidence and manage stress. These classes are not meant to promote fighting. Our focus is on instilling values such as discipline, self-awareness, and developing an ability to put mind over matter.
Class size is limited and registration is required.
Adult Taekwondo: Ages 16+
For young adults, 16 years and older, this 8-10 week program will provide levels of self defense, basic grappling, striking, blocking, and stances in the discipline of Taekwondo. All of this will culminate in a full body workout, as you train cardio, strength, flexibility, and mobility. This program will now include a belt system so that you can track your progress and grow in your knowledge. REGISTRATION REQUIRED Y Members Only.

School Age Intro to Taekwondo: Ages 5-8
This 8-10 week program is designed to instill children with the basics of the martial art of Taekwondo. They will learn the fundamentals, going through warmups and stretching, conditioning (kicks, punches, blocks), basic rolls and break falls, and self defense techniques.
Be sure to register so that your young one may experience this program. It is sure to help them feel confident and self assured. Held in the Holistic Center. Registration Required Y Members Only

School Age Taekwondo 2: Ages 5-15
This course is designed to continue the progress obtained in the “Introduction to Taekwondo” classes. One can expect more growth and knowledge in Taekwondo and gain an understanding of what is to be expected of participants of this next level.
Completion of “Introduction to Taekwondo” for that participant’s age group is REQUIRED before taking this course. If they have not completed the required course, click the link below to sign up for our next round of introductory classes.
