Community Health

The YMCA of Greater Erie has always been dedicated to its mission of helping and enriching our community and ALL those who live in it. One way we accomplish this is by providing our members opportunities to prioritize their health and wellness. Through seminars, in-house events, and even partnerships with community organizations, we want to make our community a better, happier, and healthier one.

  • People who lose blood during major surgeries
  • People who have lost blood because of a gastrointestinal bleed
  • Women who have serious complications during pregnancy or childbirth
  • People with cancer or severe anemia, sometimes caused by thalassemia or sickle cell disease

You’ll need to be:

  • At least 16 years old to donate whole blood (at least 17 to donate platelets) in most states

Whether you’d like to walk or prefer to make a donation, YOU can make a difference in the health of the Erie Community by supporting the YMCA’s annual campaign! Your donation will support community programs, such as working to stop Childhood Sexual Abuse by offering Darkness To Light’s Stewards of Children program at no cost to individuals in the community.
Stewards of Children®, the flagship program of Darkness To Light, teaches adults how to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse, through videos of adults with lived experience. Funds collected for the YMCA Highmark Walk team will go towards the costs of training and materials,
Thank you for supporting the YMCA of Greater Erie’s fight to stop childhood sexual abuse in the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community!
