The YMCA of Greater Erie is proud to celebrate our 165th Anniversary in 2025.

The YMCA of Greater Erie is proud to celebrate our 165th Anniversary in 2025. Since the first preliminary meeting of the volunteer founders of the YMCA on Aug. 20, 1860, we have been dedicated to strengthening the Erie region by providing programs that support youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. From our early days as a gathering place for young men seeking fellowship and support, to becoming a cornerstone for individuals and families of all backgrounds, the Y has remained committed to fostering a stronger, healthier, and more connected community.

As we honor this milestone, we reflect on our rich history and look forward to continuing our mission of empowering generations to come. Thank you for being part of our journey, and making the Y the place for all to Be, Belong & Become.

The Y’s History is Our Community’s History

For generations, Erie men, women and children have enjoyed the Y as a foundation in their lives.
Join us as we re-visit special moments captured through the years.

The YMCA of Greater Erie is working with Hagen History Center to create an exhibit. Look for dates to be announced soon!
